Introduction of 2FA in Galaxy Next generation on 24th June

 

Data security is our top priority. There are various ways to protect data, e.g. encrypted transmissions, role-specific access controls by different user groups or 2-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA is now being used in more and more companies and also for logins in the private user area and you are probably already familiar with it from these contexts. In order to continue to guarantee security in GALAXYNG, we will be introducing 2FA on 24 June 2024.

  • 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your account and eliminates password risks such as multiple use of the same passwords for different applications
  • 2FA increases the barriers to unauthorised access to the data that can be viewed in GALAXYNG
  • 2FA ensures regulatory compliance/adherence to industry standards for data security

How to set up 2FA in the web portal

2FA via Authenticator app

  1. Enter your user name and password in the login screen as usual.
  2. Create a new account in your Authenticator app. If you are not yet using an Authenticator app, ask your IT department which one is usually used in your company.
  3. Scan the automatically generated QR code that appears on the screen with your Authenticator app.
  4. Enter the code generated by the Authenticator app.

What happens if I do not perform 2FA?

You can use GALAXYNG as usual until 23 June. From 24 June, you will receive a request to set up 2FA. The setup is simple and can be completed in just a few steps so that you can access GALAXYNG as usual once you have finished. It is not necessary or possible to set it up before 24 June. If you do not set up 2FA after 24 June, you will not be able to access GALAXYNG.

Who has to carry out the 2FA?

The 2FA applies worldwide and must be carried out by all users.

Do I need a smartphone to set up 2FA?

The 2FA can be set up conveniently using a smartphone (via app). For all users who cannot/ do not want to use their smartphone, there is the following option to set up 2FA: Download the Authenticator app to your desktop.

What do I need to consider if I want to access GALAXY Next Generation outside Europe?

Users outside Europe proceed in the same way as users within Europe. You will receive a prompt to set up 2FA when you open GALAXYNG. Follow the steps described. You can also find help in the video above or via our help documents on this website.
